Scabies Home Remedies

What is scabies? How to treat scabies? Find out scabies home remedies on this page

Scabies is a skin infection caused by tiny itch mites called sarcoptes scabiei. When the female mites infect a person, it burrows into the outermost layer of the human skin and lay eggs. A single mite can lay up to 25 eggs. The larvae will move up to the skin surface and mature in less than 3 weeks. The mites will continue multiplying unless they are eliminated.

The symptoms of scabies are intense itching and skin rash. This is the result of tunneling and movements of the mites within the skin. Scratching the itch will cause the skin to develop small pimple like bumps or skin sores. Further scratching may result in other skin infections.

Scabies is contagious and spreads easily through skin to skin contact. Sharing personal belongings such as bed sheet, clothing, brush and towel of an infected person will also spread the infection. You must see a doctor to confirm if it is scabies. Your doctor will provide you with the medication. If a person in a home is infected, the whole family or household has to be treated.
