Remedy for Stomach Flu

The best remedy for stomach flu or viral gastroenteritis is to take a rest including resting your digestive system. The next step is to rehydrate by drinking lots of fluids especially something that contains electrolytes. Otherwise, you would get so dehydrated that when you arrive at the ER you would be given fluids through intravenous therapy or IV or also known as drip. This is because you would have lost so much fluids and nutrients.

Two of the most common stomach flu symptoms are diarrhea and severe vomiting. Symptoms of stomach flu may also include a mild fever, headache, muscle aches and stomach cramps and pain.

Viral gastroenteritis is caused by the exposure to virus. The rotavirus and norovirus are two of the common viruses that have been identified as the cause of the intestinal infection. You can get infected when you drink or eat food that is contaminated with the virus. Another way of getting the infection is when you use or share things with someone who is infected with the virus.

If you are a healthy adult, the stomach flu duration is between 24 hours to 2 days. But it may also prolong to up to 10 days depending on your body's immune system and your body's response to the infection. It also depends on what kind of stomach flu treatment you are getting or giving yourself.
