They spread through anal, oral and vaginal sexual contact with a person who has an infection. Skin to skin contact and non sexual contact such as blood transfusion and sharing needles can also spread the infections. Women who have STDs can transmit the infections to fetus during pregnancy or childbirth.

STDS affect both men and women and gay and straight couples. Most times, there are no visible symptoms and this is one of the reasons why they go unnoticed. And in some cases such as the HIV, the symptoms might be mistaken for other viral infections. Sexually transmitted diseases treatment and remedies depend on the types of STDs.
