Ingrown hair home remedies No. 1 - Apply warm compress

If you can feel or see the bump but the hair isn't visible, apply a warm and moist compress. Get a face cloth, dip in warm water and wring it. You can also heat the cloth in the microwave oven. White willow bark contains salicin which produces salicylic acid. It is available in liquid extract. The acid from willow bark is mostly used for acne treatment. If you have infected ingrown hair, mix it with jojoba oil and it will help reduce pus or swelling of the bumps and help the hair come out.

Aloe vera gel is another option. Apply the gel on the bumps for a few days and the active compounds in the herbal extract will reduce inflammation if any, and may reduce further ingrown hair.

If you choose to buy any of the ingrown hair products, look at the labels first. Try to avoid any product that includes alcohol. Natural and herbal products that are effective as ingrown hair treatment and treat skin problems are chamomile, sage, lavender oil, tea tree oil, olive oil, jojoba oil and sugar cane.

Some ingrown hair products use sugar cane extract that contains glycolic acid. It can penetrate the skin. If you don't have any sugar cane juice, mix sugar with honey and lemon juice. Add cornstarch to make it into a paste. Apply it on your razor bumps and leave it for about 20 minutes.
